Hello — I just read your definition of “stages” with great interest. I’ve found the 7 often-used stages to be lacking. My story in brief: my darling husband of 22 years was diagnosed with vascular dementia 1 yr ago. He is 81. He has type2diabetes, a pacemaker but otherwise is in ok health. His brain mri, however, was “teeming” with micro infarcts. Some days he looks so fragile and is so “out of his head” ; then he can be fairly “like himself”. What stage is that? Barbara

I’d really have to see him to tell you, or at least hear more about how he acts and speaks. You said he seems fine sometimes and was only diagnosed a year ago, so he may be early-moderate. I would definitely need more information about how he is.
