I work in the mental health field and it's actually surprising how much of this advice can also apply to the consumers with schizophrenia and related illnesses that I work with. I wish I had known this stuff when I was much younger and my grandmother was slipping into Alzheimer's; we would have had a much better and kinder time with her before she passed.

It’s true, there’s a lot of overlap, and there’s also a lot of people with illnesses like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder who end up having dementia later in life!

I am sure you all did the best you could for her, knowing then what you knew. We live and learn and we improve as we go!
